Disclaimer

Part A — General Disclaimer
Dive Backup is an organizational and planning tool. It organizes information that you and your team enter — dive plans, roles, buddy assignments, Emergency Action Plan details, and attached documents. Dive Backup does not independently verify the accuracy of any user-entered information, and does not determine, certify, or guarantee that any dive, dive plan, or participant is safe, qualified, or approved.
Specifically:
- Dive Backup is not a certification authority.Credential records stored in Dive Backup are self-reported by users or entered by organizers, and comparisons against organizer-entered requirements are informational only. A "record matches" or "no matching record found" result is not a determination of ability.
- Dive Backup is not a substitute for training. Nothing displayed within the platform replaces instruction from a certified training agency or the judgment of a qualified instructor.
- Dive Backup is not a substitute for a live predive briefing.A participant's digital review and acknowledgment of a plan confirms that they indicated they reviewed a specific version of that plan. It is not a waiver, does not constitute attendance at a live briefing, and does not transfer or reduce individual responsibility.
- Dive Backup is not a dive computer. It does not monitor a dive in real time and is not a substitute for a personal dive computer or in-water instrumentation.
- Dive Backup is not an emergency service. Emergency Action Plan and Emergency Mode features organize information entered by your team; they do not contact emergency services on your behalf and do not guarantee that stored information (contacts, equipment locations, evacuation routes) is current or accurate. Users are responsible for verifying and maintaining this information.
Part B — Calculation-Specific Disclaimer (Planning Lab)
Dive Backup includes optional planning worksheets that calculate results from values, methods, and model settings selected by the user. Calculated outputs are planning references, not determinations that a diver is qualified or that a dive is safe. Dive Backup does not replace training, agency standards, professional judgment, a personal dive computer, or a live predive briefing.
Additional terms specific to calculation features:
- You choose the methodology. Reserve calculations, gradient factors, and other method-dependent inputs are selected by you or your organization, not by Dive Backup. No default value is presented as a recommendation.
- Every result shows its inputs. Calculated outputs display the exact values entered, the calculation engine and version used, and the assumptions applied. You are responsible for reviewing these before relying on any result.
- Invalid inputs produce no result. Where inputs are missing, contradictory, or outside a supported range, the worksheet will not generate an output rather than provide an estimate.
- Results are not monitored in real time. A calculation performed before a dive does not account for conditions that change during the dive. It is not a substitute for a personal dive computer or for monitoring your own status while diving.
- You are solely responsible for your diving decisions. Use of any Dive Backup calculation feature does not transfer responsibility for dive planning or in-water decision-making to Dive Backup.
Dive Backup's liability, if any, for harm arising from reliance on a calculated result is governed by the general limitation of liability in the Terms of Service.
