Dive Backup's job is making sure everyone on your team sees the same plan, reviews it before you dive, and can find the emergency information they need without digging for it.
Dive Backup organizes information entered by the dive team. It does not calculate whether a dive is safe or replace training, certification, professional judgment, dive computers, agency standards, or a live predive briefing.

What we leave to you
- Deciding whether a dive is within your ability — that call is yours, built on your training and experience, not ours
- Working out decompression schedules and no-decompression limits — that's your dive computer and your training agency's tables, not us
- Judging penetration distance, turn pressure, or gas reserves — your team sets those, based on your own procedures
- Confirming a diver is qualified — credential comparisons in Dive Backup are informational, never a certification check
- Reading cave or wreck passages — we never generate navigation instructions, and we never publish a sensitive entrance without your say-so
- Running your predive briefing — reviewing a plan in the app is not a substitute for the briefing your team gives in person
When you acknowledge a brief, you're confirming you looked at it
Acknowledging a final brief means you reviewed the objective, your role, the buddy assignment, the limits and abort criteria your team entered, and the emergency summary. It is not a waiver, a release, an assumption-of-risk contract, or a legally binding signature — and it never shifts responsibility away from you or any other diver on the team. It just tells your team you saw the current plan.
The numbers on your plan are still your numbers
Depths, runtimes, turn criteria, gas reserves, and abort conditions come from your organizer, using your own training, agency standards, and dive computer — not from us. We show them back to you clearly labeled as what your team decided, so everyone on the dive is working from the same values you actually agreed on.
